As a member of the State and Local bar, I served as President of the Range Bar Association (2005-2006) and am currently on the Lawyer's Trust Account Board (2006- ) and the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Task Force (2007-2008). I am a member of the Quad Cities Rotary (2004 to present), the Virginia Area Women of Today (member 1999 to present, District Director 2002-2003), my church council, the Finnish American Legal Association (FALA) and the Britt Area Rec Center (secretary 2000-2007). I served on the Apple Tree Learning Center board of directors for two years, have played a lot of cards with the Eveleth Duplicate Bridge Club (1997 to present), I read a book a month for my book group, and have organized more yard sales, community parties, and children's activities than bears mention. My two children are both active in basketball, baseball, football, and orchestra. I have been married since 1991. My grandmother was Nelmi Koivu of Cook, who wrote a local newspaper column for almost 60 years. Because of her I stop to smell the lilacs, watch the robins and ask people who they are.
